In the spirit of self improvement, I decided to make one surface pattern design for everyday of January 2017. This provides a structure for experimenting with a range of colours, styles, techniques.
So in the first week, I digitised existing drawings, prototyped ideas that had been floating around for a while, and played around with setting myself time restrictions to see what would happen in a limited amount of time. Some are more visually appealing than others and some could do with more work. But once a day is over, I move on to the next piece.
I discovered that I'm not the only one - so as of day 5, I began following along with a daily prompt challenge by artist, Anika Starmer. It gives a little structure into what the subject of each pattern should be.
The newest pieces are at the top of the blog post, feeding down to the oldest pieces at the bottom. I've also been adding each day's work to an A4 document, recording a little of the story behind each pattern for future reference. Maybe I'll print it at the end of the month... Who knows!
