The idea of a striped shift dress with contrast sleeves has been on my mind for a long time. It was just finding the right fabric that was the challenge. I was looking for 2 ponte roma fabrics where the stripes were exactly the same width and distance apart. The fabric isn't exactly what the pattern calls for, since this one has more stretch, so for my own future reference, I cut two sizes smaller than my measurements suggested (but still kept the flared skirt of my original size).
The neckline was finished with a facing (with a silk label), the sleeves cropped off just above the elbow and taken in by 1" each side, and battled through the hem with a twin needle.
